Today is the Grain Rain solar term.

Grain Rain originates from the ancient saying 'rain nourishes all grains,' indicating the end of spring and the coming of summer; it is the last solar term of spring. In the Ming Dynasty Chinese book on cultivated plants, "The Spectrum of All Flowers," it is recorded: 'Grain Rain occurs when the grains receive rain and grow.' Grain Rain links 'grain' and 'rain,' embodying the meaning of 'rain nourishes all grains,' reflecting the agricultural and climatic significance of Grain Rain. During the Grain Rain period, temperatures rise more quickly, and rainfall increases. At this time, with abundant sunlight, the planting and growth of rice, corn, and especially cotton, are particularly favored. Ancient Chinese divided the fifteen days of the Grain Rain period into three pentads: the first pentad, duckweed begins to grow; the second pentad, turtledoves start calling and stretching their wings; the third pentad, hoopoes descend upon the mulberry trees.
